Meet a Quilter and a Give Away

Let me introduce you to Joan from Moosestash Quilting. She’s a quilting cheerleader, pattern tester extraordinaire, and frankly, the busiest quilter I know!!!

Thanks Carol, for inviting me over to chat today.

My name is Joan, and I am the one who tries to keep those darn moose in line, around here. The boys are such a handful, but then... what boys aren't!  Their antics make me laugh every day.

It's a crazy world we live in today. I think it's important to laugh...
and I'm a firm believer, that if you can't fix it...
ya gotta just laugh at it.
After all, laughter is the best medicine
(besides stitching that is)
;-)

If you've never met me...we can just say I'm an applique junkie!
Fusible is my favorite method.
Oh, that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the work
that goes into needle turn applique...

but for me...it's all about getting it done, as quickly as possible.
(My quilts won't be seeing much washing)
The faster it goes, the more I can do!
...and there are so many that have caught my attention!
I'll have live another 100 years,
to get them all done.
:-)

I started blogging in January of 2009.
It was a wild idea that ran thru my head...
It was suppose to motivate me to finish projects
that were sitting in my UFO box.
Never did I dream that 6 years later,
I would still be rambling on about my adventures,
or that so many would join in.

I came across Carol and her fun filled blog in 2012. When she introduced...

Snack Attack
My quilting buddy, Ruth and I ran all over creation,
looking for snack fabrics.
At the time they were difficult to find,
so I made my own with photo transfer.
The best part was eating all the candy,
so I could scan the wrappers!
LOL!!!

Fast forward a few years, and I was delighted to be able to pattern test for Carol.

Sugar Skulls

Hearts and Flowers
Each and every one so very different, and so much fun!

Then she tempted me with this mystery quilt...
Snow
I must say, I love a good mystery quilt and Block of the Month...
but I am not good at them.
Nope, I'm one of those who likes to start and finish it, all at one time.
I tend to save up things until I have everything, then I go to work on them.
Just like I am, with Carol's "By the Bay" row of the month.

Sorry Carol, my secret is out!
:-)

I've been keeping myself very busy with pattern testing this past year! What a great perk!
So many new things I've learned. So many delightful designers I've met...

And I am so jealous of each and every one of them!
;-)
I'll let  you in on another secret...
I have not one drop of artistic ability in me.
Nope, not one. I can't draw even a stick person that looks like anything.
(I quit playing hangman when they started making fun of me)

LOL!!

But I sure do love being able to play off everyone else's talents!
Thanks to each and every one of you, who has allowed me to bring your
delightful designs to life!

I've been an active Blog Hopper with "Sew We Stitch" since 2011.
Madame Samm found me after I wrote a tutorial on a travel bag
that the TSA would approve for carrying your liquids in.

She has done a remarkable job of bringing the entire
quilting and stitching community together with her hops.
It's just the best place to be, if you want to meet great folks,
and need a good dose of inspiration.

We just finished the "Have a Latte"  blog hop last month. This was my addition to the hop.
I was delighted to be chosen as "head" cheerleader.

And  I got my very own "button".
Don't you just love her?
;-)

This year Island Batik so generously made me an Ambassador for them.
That's like icing on the cake!

Oh, and speaking of cake...
Easter Party
Angie Padilla from Angie's Bits & Pieces
and
allowed me to do a little quilt-a-long.
It's not too late to join us...
Check it out right

Oh the places, this wonderful place called blogland
has taken me, and the friends I have made.
Long gone is the dream that I will finish that pile of UFO's.
Heck no, there are way too many new things to inspire me!

So my goal is to pay it forward...

My goal is to inspire and entertain you, down this "crazy" quilting road
we all "seam" to love to travel.
I'd love it if you'd join in!

You can keep up with all the "moose" antics

Thanks again Carol, for inviting me us in.
(the boys get crabby, if I forget em)
;-)

They also have a little give-a-way for one of you today...
And share with you what a boobola their mom is!
That's pronounced boo-bow-la. It's one of those fancy quilting
terms we use, when something goes wrong.
LOL!!

***

When mom finds a pattern she "loves"...she loves it
so much so, that she tends to buy it more than once...
If she actually made up all those patterns she has,
maybe she would remember...

(Don't you just love our darling faces?)

So we are going to give one of them away to one of you!
Leave us a comment telling us a bit about you.
We want to know if everyone is like our mom!
Monday May 18, we'll pick a winner.

***
OK, boys, that's enough!
:-)
'Til next time
Keep on stitchin'

I may be a bit crazy, but I don't think I'm as crazy as your mom made herself sound! Love it.

I adore Joan and her great sense of humor. She always makes me laugh. And I have a houseful of elephants as naughty as her moose.

I have a sister who lives in moose country who would love this pattern so I'm entering for her since I'd probably have to sew it for her anyway. kthurn@bektel.com

I am a Proud mother of a Moose Lovee...My daughter lived in Island Park, Idaho for many summers as a teen...And while she was there a big ole lanky moose fell in love at first sight...He waited for her at the door, morning, noon and night...He loved her so much he chased after her to proclaim his devotion to her, but everytime he got near, she would either jump into the back of her truck or back into the house...This went on for 3 summers, til everyone around knew him by sight...There goes Kari's Love Moose....It was a sad day when she moved to Bozeman Mt....He followed her truck for quite a ways...Then left alone he turned and went into the woods, loney and lanky......

Wow! Rosie's story about the Kari-adoring moose is really great. And Joan's Moose Stash has always fascinated me (not that she really has one). Mostly, I see her with a stuffed chicken hat on her head! Joan's one in a million: positive, funny, courageous, bomb-proof, loving, lovely and talented. Don't know what we'd do without her!

Joan's MooseStash Quilting blog has been inspiring me for awhile now! I'm a Canadian and we like moose here. I've been quilting for about 7 years. I love quilting and wish I had discovered it sooner. My husband has trouble understanding why I need more fabric. I tell him I'm stashing for my retirement years! Thanks for a chance to win the cute moose pattern.

If you need a little humor in your life, hook up with Joan. I get her email newsletter and have to visit regularly. Hmm About me? I'm an old retired person who loves to quilt and search for fun inspiration blogs.
