Ready for Quilting…

My friendship quilt top that I created to go along with the story The Friendship Quilt by Susan Levin and Gloria Tracy is ready to be quilted.

In case you missed the previous post, our guild matches quilts to books with quilts in them. These sets are loaned to schools for their reading programs.

This story is about a classmate that needs surgery and will miss a lot of school. The class decides to make her a friendship quilt to let her know how much they are thinking of her.

I wanted a quilt with kid friendly items similar to things they would draw on their own blocks. I outlined everything in black on white fabric so it would have a coloring book feel to it. There are some buttons and trims to add extra interest while they pass the quilt around.

Here is the rough plan I drew in EQ7 last week         .

Have a crafty week!

That is so cute! I love all the possibilities that are inspired by children's books. I'm sure the kids love to see their favorite books in quilts.

In stitches,
Teresa :o)

I always thought quilts are so cool. I wish I could make them.

What a colorful quilt -- love how you designed it to look like a coloring book. The black outline makes the pictures pop! Thanks so much for sharing on Busy Monday!
