Puzzle Quilt 2 Finished

Earlier this week I showed you this puzzle bag of random 5 inch squares.

This is what it turned in to………
Since I’m always sewing squares together I thought I’d be a little different this time. It also helped to hide the ugly fabrics. This went together really quickly using chain piecing and half square triangles.

Looking good! I have not made a quilt with HST yet even though I took a class in working with HST in May last year!

What a fun way to use up those uglies! The effect you've achieved is a soothing repetition of shapes in pretty color combinations. A good reminder that not every quilt has to start with the most beautiful prints or newly purchased fabrics.
FYI: The corner triangles will be too small if you use the same size square of white fabric cut into fourths.

I rechecked the sizes and they are correct. The triangle at the upper left and lower right are smaller. If you cut the block in 1/4's the bias edge of the 1/4 triangle is the same side (size) as the straight side of the 1/2 triangle. So they will meet correctly.

What is the finished quilt size? I want to make 3 quilts from a deceased family member's clothing. Thanks for a great pattern.
