Creative Borders and Bindings

This month the Island Batik Ambassadors have been playing with creative borders and bindings.

Flutter shown in the Spoolin Around collection.

Creative Borders and Binding Graphic

Don’t be afraid to play with your borders!
You might just find something fun along the way.

My go to for border play is Electric Quilt. It’s so easy to change things in real time. My other favorite border references are The Border Workbook by Janet Kime (ISBN 1-56477-184-9) and Pieced Borders by Judy Martin (ISBN 0-929589-03-3).

Come play along with my Flutter block…
I started with simple plain borders. It’s just OK. Nothing exciting.

Hmmm, how about some border blocks. Wow big change ~ right.

3

Maybe some inside blocks too. Umm NO. Way too distracting.

5

How about circles instead of blocks…Hey, I like it!!!

6

How about something a little more soothing.
Shown in the new Autumn Grace collection.

But why stop there….

Don’t be afraid to try your borders at a different angle too.
