Today I have a peek into the EQ Academy and a fun layout tutorial for you.
I recently attended the EQ Academy in Ohio. First, I have to say if you ever have the opportunity to attend don't pass on it! It was an amazing three days of fun and learning.

We met all of the EQ staff including co-founders Dean Neumann and Penny McMorris. One staff member was always in the room ready to jump in and help. They even took notes on all of our suggestions for future improvements. HOW COOL IS THAT!

I took Barb Vlack's class. All I can say is WOW! She has soooo many wonderful tips and tricks to share. In the photo we were learning how to use the Symmetry Tool with blacks that weren't symmetrical. Who would have thought?! This was the best class I've ever taken and I've taken a lot.

We had a reception that included a lecture from each teacher. The highlight of the evening was Susan Lane surprising Dean Neumann, co-founder of Electric Quilt, with a Quilt of Valor. What a wonderful place to be awarded his quilt.

Tweak that Layout Tutororial
Most of you have probably already found the Layout Library. It's packed with pre-made layouts by catagory and size just waiting for you to drop blocks in. BUT...
Did you know that you can also alter those pre-made layouts?
For my Christmas Flower pattern I started with the On Point Medallion #26 layout. Next, I removed the borders and resized the side triangles. Then, I set my blocks into the layout and TADA!

There's quite a few pre-made layouts for table runners but none of them have pointed ends. Here I started with Square in a Square #6 layout.
I deleted the borders and blocks that I didn't want from the layout. Set my blocks into the layout and WALLA! A table runner with pointed ends. How nifty is that trick!
A little thinking outside the box is all it takes. What will you create?
Of course every party needs a yummy cake.

I need to go to an EQ event. I don't know how to DELETE parts of a layout. Thanks for sharing.
What fun to go to the EQ Retreat. I'm so happy you were able to go and share insights. It is definitely on my bucket list. Great tutorial too with a wonderful project packed with #CreativeGoodness. Thanks for sharing and helping with the #EQ25 Anniversary Celebration.

It sounds like a great time! Did you learn how to add binding to a tablerunner with pointed ends? I've tried several ways, but nothing really looks good.
What great info! I can't wait to try this one out. Thank you so much.
