Christmas Gift Ideas

Well, it’s that time of year. My sewing room has exploded with Christmas gift sewing. Has yours?

I’ve been addicted to these wonderful little Cat Eye Bags from Thread Riding Hood.

For a bit of added fun I thought I’d share the new Sea Salt Sandy collection from Island Batik. Sea Salt Sandy will be available in stores this spring. The collection contains a rainbow of beautiful colors and fun textures.

NOTE: I wanted my bags to have a little more substance to them so I skipped the interfacing steps. After the sides were ready I cut one piece of thin batting and added it with the zipper insertion step.

I LOVE pockets for everything! Another great gift project is Pockets to Go by Atkinson Designs. Also pictured in Sea Salt Sandy fabrics.

NOTE: Of course I made a few tweaks to my basket. I skipped the steps for the binding around the edges. Instead I put my seams between the layers so they wouldn’t show. I also cut Peltex to the exact size of the blocks so it would be stitched into the seams to make up for the difference in stability. Oh, and my straps are a few inches longer.

Happy Holiday Sewing Everyone!!!

great items! I need to make small things like this, just have a ton of other ideas I want to do, for no reason at all, at least things like these bags I can give away!
