Lights, Back in Action & a GREAT Give Away

The lighting in my sewing room is terrible. I often find myself dragging my Ott light around like a third appendage. Do you have this problem too?
Well, I found another product that I totally ♥♥LOVE♥♥ ……. LED sewing machine lights by Inspired LED.

The lamp that came with my Voyager only lights one side of the machine at a time. It casts terrible shadows while trying to do ruler work and around the needle area. Even with my drug store granny glasses it’s a struggle to sew black thread on black fabric.

Here’s my machine with LED lights. Wow! It’s like I’m sewing outside in the day light.
IMG_5422

Threading the needle is no longer a struggle and there aren’t any more shadows with ruler work. Hmmm, I may need to change her name from Gremlin to something friendlier now. LOL.

The kit includes a 25” flexible LED light string, switch, power source and mounting brackets. THE BEST PART is you don’t need any technical skills to quickly install or completely customize your lights. The only tool needed is a pair of scissors. Everything is self adhesive….even the lights!

Assembly takes just minutes. Cut lights to the desired length, stick in place, plug in to the switch, plug in the power source, and you’re in business. It's really that easy to do!

Just cut the lights at the copper connectors with scissors

Left over lights won’t go to waste. They sell solderless connectors (below) and a wide variety of cables so you can use them anywhere you want.

How I Set Up My Lights
I purchased two kits (before the longer light strips were included), a mini distribution block, and a 4” interconnect cable. I mounted one strip under the arm….

…and the other on a paint stick hung on the handle with wire tie loops…WAIT there's a reason for this madness. The lights are at the perfect angle for the needle area of my machine and they are easily removable when I switch to the back of my machine. Ahhh! Not professional looking but it works really well.

The mini distribution block is mounted on the top rail with a wire tie. It’s connected to the switch using the 4” cable. This way I only needed one on/off switch for all the lights. The extra switch and power source will be used to add lights to my Jane.

Inspired LED offers easy online chat for questions and “how to” videos on their website. I just noticed if you mention "free pen" in the comments at check out they’ll send you a free LED flashlight pen….. Darn I missed that with my order.

Great Give Away

Are you as excited about these little lights as I am?
Inspired LED has generously offered to give two blog readers a set of lights!
Just leave a comment telling me your favorite vacation spot and why.
Two random winners will be picked on June 6th.

Currently my favorite vacation spot is anywhere on the Oregon coast. I love the rough beauty there, as well as the absence of hoards of people that you find on so many of the east coast beaches. I especially love Yachats--about midway down the Oregon coast.

Our favorite vacation spot is in Rhode Island just over the Connecticut border. We would camp with our three kids from babies until they were grown. During the day we would go to the beach, swim, sun and relax, then go back to camp, cook and enjoy the fire. Simple togetherness.
We haven't taken a vacation in a few years but when we do that's where we will be.
Love those lights!

Well I sure could use some of these...thanks for the chance!!

Ooo....these lights are really cool! They would be fabulous for the treadle!!! Your question is a tough one, as we have traveled a lot being a military family! My favorite vacation spot is I usually just someplace I have never been before! Though I do LOVE to visit Lancaster County, PA for a bit of Amish country and Hrshey's chocolate!

OH gosh, favorite vacation spot? In all honesty, anywhere away from our home with my husband. If you forced me to choose, it would be a small cabin on a lake with a little porch. The lake would be just steps from the porch and each morning we could sit on the porch drinking our morning coffee and just reconnecting while watching the sun rise.

I have wanted these awesome lights for awhile now. I'd love to win this.

I would love to have these lights. My old eyes have a hard time with the sewing machine lights. My favorite vacation spot would be a return trip to the south island of New Zealand. What a beautiful spot. Doris

Favorite vacation spot is anywhere on the water - beach, lake - hmmmm! Thanks for showing the set up of the lights. They look great. I am always trying to get light to that spot under the needle area.

We love to go to Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. It is a very small town that has hot pots to soak in. After sewing and working as hard as I do, I need a nice place to soak this tired aching body. During the summer there is a river for the kids to float down. We play games, travel around to the other small towns, because my family is from this area.

I love to vacation AT HOME. I live on beautiful Farm acreage With domestic animals, farm animals and plentiful wildlife...it's a new adventure every day! I love being on my homestead because it's so fulfilling to explore and experience.
I must confess, however, I'd love to visit the rain forests in Africa-not as part of a tour group, but with a local tribe.

Hmmm...my favorite vacation spot...I would have to say in front of my sewing machine in the quilt cave, while a Jane Austen movie plays in the background, with a hands-off meal simmering in the crock pot for my family, and my kitty and a cup of tea by my side...priceless!

I have 2 and visit each one every year (well almost every year). We start in New Orleans and then make our way to Key West. It just can't get any better then that. Start with the Jazz and head for the Reggae and join the Parrot Heads. Fins Up! I find happiness and comfort in both places. I am relaxed and always smiling when we are there.

Ok, don't think I'm joking, I'm not. My favorite place to vacation is my sewing room. I work outside the home and can only visit my sewing room for a couple of hours on Saturdays if the hubby is home to run the kids to wherever they need to be.

My favorite so far is any Florida beach and Disney World because both hold many, many good memories for me.
Thanks for reviewing these lights. I have looked for a couple of years for something that would work well on my machine. Nothing fits and stays stable and out of the way. These look perfect!
