I have my mum's old hand eggbeater & still use it in preference to getting out the flash mixer. Maybe it's the washing up that puts me off but maybe its the good memories attached to the beater that makes it so fun to use. Thanks, lovely bunny quilt. Tracee xx

A friend once gave me a little gadget that is plastic and you just put it under the edge of a screw-on lid and pull up until you hear the vacuum seal unpop on the jar. Then.....the lid turns easily to open. No more banging on the edge of jar lids OR hurting my hands trying to turn them to open them. I saw them at the kitchen shop in the outlet center near us and think I am going to get them to give as little gifts to people soon. I think I am going to invest in Soda Stream soon and that might be my new favorite...who knows!

I used to be a potter (the clay kind) and used a kidney shaped tool regularly.. it translated into the kitchen very nicely. I cut myself similiar shaped one from a plastic bottle with straight sides (many can be made from the one bottle) and it makes the best scraper or spatula and you can get the last bit out of bowls and as a smoother of icing etc. It was fun to use a similiar tool to be creative in both places.
