Carol
Steely is the pattern designer behind FunThreads Designs, LLC. Her patterns
have been featured in McCall’s Quick Quilts Magazine, Fiber Bytes E-magazine,
and on the cover of SQeasy Patterns for SQangles. She contributed content to the
17 Quilting Tutorials E-Book by Prime Publishing and has designed products for
the Artisan Handbag Company, formerly Bun Bun Bags. She has also been a guest
blogger and content contributor for numerous websites.
She
believes that the quilt making process should be fun and stress free. She
prefers to ignore the “quilting police” and create quilts that are meant to be
enjoyed and used. She loves sneaking humor into her cute and quirky designs
whenever possible.
Her
patterns usually fall into two categories: scrappy or fusible appliqué.
Although she is most passionate about fusible appliqué, she does love to take a
bag of random fabric bits and turn them in to a quilt.
Carol was inspired to learn how to sew by her grandmother, a
lifelong seamstress in the fashion industry. After making her first quilt in 1987,
she quickly realized that she loved to create her own one of a kind projects. She
shares her infectious enthusiasm for quilting and sewing by making quilts for
charity and teaching sewing classes. In 2011, she began blogging and sharing
her sewing adventures with a larger audience. Now she designs and publishes her
own patterns.
Outside of
the sewing room, she is the doting mother of two wonderful young ladies and the
wife to a very supportive husband.
