Busy, Busy Beaver

I apologize for the blog silence. I’ve just finished my first vending booth at the San Antonio Quilt Show. Did any of you attend? There were so many details to think about and a lot going on behind the scenes. I started with a sketch and tried to plan out every inch of space ahead of time to minimize any surprises….I hate surprises.

Here’s my booth after everything was moved in. Check it out….my name on the wall!!!
The table was longer than I planned so that was a good surprise. It was sooo strange being surrounded by all my quilts.

Now I have to turn my attention to the Houston Quilt Market. QuiltWoman.com is providing small booth spaces for their designers which is awesome. I still need to print my catalogs and learn how to print a poster. Any know how to design posters?
And on a random note….has anyone else noticed that Oreos are putting less cookies per row in the same packaging? See the gap? The package now weighs 14.3 oz. Just sad:(

Hauptstrasse Quiltfest

Did anyone attend the Hauptstrasse Quiltfest in Boerne, Texas this past weekend?

There’s just something fun about quilts dancing in the breeze.

I love being able to walk all the way around each quilt. You never know what surprise might be hidden on the flip side. Check out these backs!! They are as fun as the fronts.

This was just creative and fun. The little boat reminds me of the ones we folded as kids and is made from newsprint fabric.

There was a wonderful tribute to the quilters of Gee’s Bend, Alabama. Several fun 70’s quilts which looked modern until you got up close and saw they were made from 70’s polyesters.Wow! I remember that stuff. LOL.

All in all a really fun show.

Always take a moment to look up.
Sometimes it’s just an awesome view.

A Long Week of Fun

Did anyone make it to Houston for the Quilt Market or the Quilt Show? I got to attend my first quilt market and helped QuiltWoman.com with their school house programs last weekend. Then I was back up there this weekend for the quilt show.

I’m sure you’ve probably already seen the entry display. The red and white quilts were stunning as you walked in to the show room. Hung in a large circular formation from the ceiling.

I got a fun surprise as I was wandering the vendor area… The quilts I created for SQangles were hanging in a fabulous corner booth. I didn’t even know they were going to be there.

Sorry my outfit clashes a bit with the booth display but I wasn’t expecting a photo op. LOL.

I picked up several new “toys” to try. Have you used any of these products? I picked up Winline Bamboo batting, Mistyfuse, Blue Line Eraser, and some KAI serrated edge scissors. The vendor area is always soooo much fun because you can touch and play with everything before you buy it.

The show quilts were spectacular. Fabric painting, thread painting, embellishing, crystals, and 3D features. It was like visiting an art gallery. We were told that the Best of Show quilt took 7 years to finish….7 YEARS!?! I don’t think my attention span would last that long!

Hauptstrasse Quiltfest

I spent a simply gorgeous morning in Boerne, Texas at the Hauptstrasse Quiltfest. It was an outdoor quilt show and sale held in the Main Plaza of the historic district.

Just look at all these lovely quilts blowing in the breeze!!

They were hung all the way down both sides of the park which was probably longer than a football field.

They were even hung on buildings.

Honorable Mention…

The Greater San Antonio Quilt Show is today and tomorrow. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by. There are some AMAZING quilts to be seen.

That being said…..when I rounded the corner this morning look what I saw.... I won an Honorable Mention for Gone But Not Forgotten. Whaaat!! This was my first entry in to a quilt show. I’m sooooo, or should I say sewwww, excited!!!

I really DON’T have an Oompa Loompa spray tan. It was just the lighting in the exhibit hall. I hide from the Texas heat and I’m white as a ghost. LOL.
