Scrub Top and Pants

DOLL SCRUB SET MODEL


Scrub Top

Supply List
1 yard of fabric for the entire scrub set
Two pieces of Velcro
Freezer paper, wrapping paper or newspaper to draw the pattern on
Fabric Marker
Sewing Supplies

Step 1 – Draw the Pattern

Shirt Front Pattern
Draw an 8 tall x 8 ½ wide rectangle on a piece of paper and out it out.

Now draw a 4 x 4 inch square in the lower corner.Cut and remove this square
from your pattern to make the sleeve. Label this as the “shirt front pattern –
cut 1 on fold”.

Shirt Back Pattern


Draw an 8 tall x 9 wide rectangle on a piece of paper and cut it out.

 Now draw a 4 x 4 inch square in the lower corner. Cut and remove this square
from your pattern to make the sleeve. Label this as the “shirt back pattern –
cut 2”.

Step 2 – Cut the Fabrics
Fold your fabric in half and pin the left edge of the shirt front pattern along the fold of your fabric. Cut one piece.doll scrub shirt step 3



Pin the shirt back pattern to the fabric and cut out two pieces.

Step 3 – Sew Shoulder Seam
 Place one front piece and the back together with “pretty” sides touching. Make the shoulder edges even and pin.


Make a dot 5 1/2 inches from the end.

Sew the shoulder seam from the sleeve edge to the dot using a 1/2 inch seam.

Repeat these steps for the other front piece.

Step 4 – Sew the Neck Edge
Press seam open.


Carefully stitch along the neck edge between the dots to hold the fabric down. Do this for the front and back of the top.

Step 5 – Hem Sleeves
Fold the sleeve edges 1/2 inch towards the wrong side of the shirt.


Sew along the edge to make the hem using your presser foot as a guide. Press hem.

Step 6 – Sew Side Seams
Fold the shirt so the front and back pieces are “pretty” sides touching. Make the side seams even and pin.


Sew side seams using a 3/8 seam.

Carefully make a small clip in the corner of the under arm. Do not cut your stitching.

Step 7 – Hem the Back
Fold the back edges 1/2 inch towards the wrong side of the shirt.


Sew along this edge to make a hem using your presser foot as a guide. Press hem.

Step 8 – Hem the Bottom Edge
Fold the bottom of the shirt 1/2 inch to the wrong side.


Sew along the edge to make a hem using your presser foot as a guide. Press hem.

Step 9 – Add Velcro Closures
Place one piece of Velcro at the top corner of the shirt the back and stitch in place.


Fold the shirt closed and mark the placement for the other half of the Velcro on the under side. Stitch it in place on the under side of the shirt. Check to make sure the pieces match when the shirt is closed.


Add the second Velcro closure to the middle of the shirt following the same steps.

Scrub Pants

Supplies
Fabric from above
11 inches of 1/4 wide elastic
Freezer paper, wrapping paper or newspaper to draw the pattern on
Fabric Marker
Sewing Supplies



Step 1 – Draw the Pattern
On an 8 1/2  x 11 piece of paper measure and draw a vertical line 4 1/2 inches from the long side edge. Draw a second line 6 inches from the long side edge.


Now measure and draw a horizontal line 4 1/2 inches from the top of the paper.

Using this grid draw a curved edge at the top like the photo. Connect to the bottom with a straight edge.

Cut out the pattern and label it “scrub pants – cut 2 on fold”.

Step 2 – Cut Fabrics
Fold the fabric in half. Pin the pattern to the fold. Cut out. Do this twice.

Step 3 – Sew the Hem
Fold the bottom edge up 1/2 inch towards the wrong side of the fabric.


Sew along the edge using your presser foot as a guide to make the hem. Press the hem.


Do this for both pant legs.

Step 4 – Sew the Center Seam
Place both pieces “pretty” sides touching. Make the curved edge even and pin.


Sew both curved edges using a 3/8 inch seam.

Step 5 – Sew the Inner Leg
Refold the pants bringing the center seams(the curved edges you just stitched) together. You will see it form the legs.

Make the leg edges even and pin.


Sew using a 3/8 inch seam.

Step 6 – Sew the Casing
Fold the top of the pants down 5/8 inch towards the wrong side of the fabric and pin.

Mark an opening for the elastic to go into.

Sew along the edge to make the casing. Do not sew the opening shut. Remember your elastic has to fit through the casing se keep your stitches neat.


Step 7 – Insert the Elastic
Use a safety pin on the end of the elastic to help pull it through the casing.

Sew the ends of the elastic together.

Pin and sew the opening shut.

  9. Thanks so much. My granddaughter just got her first AG doll for her birthday. She is in cancer treatment at St Jude. So I used some St Jude material and made the outfit for her doll. Can't wait to get it to her. I think she will be very happy. I appreciate you sharing your talent.

  13. Thanks for the great pattern! I have used it to make matching scrubs for my daughter and her doll and am currently using it with felt to make pajamas for my daughter's doll! She is going to love it!
